How does The USPOPS CST Service work?
CST accelerates your Internet access through proprietary text and image compression, content caching and other network optimizations.

Will I benefit from using The USPOPS CST Service?
If you have a slow Internet connection (such as a dial-up or wireless connection) with bandwidth of less than 300Kbps, you will experience a significant degree of acceleration using CST.

What types of content does The USPOPS CST Service speed up?
The USPOPS CST Service significantly speeds up web page access. To achieve this speed up, proprietary lossless compression is applied to text, html, xml, JavaScript and style sheets. Proprietary image compression is applied to gif images, jpeg images and Flash content.
CST also accelerates email traffic (POP3 and SMTP) using lossless compression.
CST does NOT speed up file downloads (over FTP or file sharing programs), streaming audio/video and HTTPS (secure web sites).

How do I start The USPOPS CST Service?
The USPOPS CST Service is launched automatically every time Windows starts. You do not have to launch it manually.
A The USPOPS CST Service icon appears in the Windows system tray to show that it is operating in the background.

How do I change the image quality for a particular image?
Right-clicking on an image within Internet Explorer and selecting "Show Original Image" allows you to view the original image. Selecting "Show All Original Images" allows you to view all original images on the entire web page.

How do I change the image quality setting for all images?
Right-click on the The USPOPS CST Service taskbar icon and select "Settings". Select the "Image Quality" tab. Adjust the slider bar to the desired image quality setting. Press OK to save the changes.

How do I use Internet Explorer with The USPOPS CST Service?
Internet Explorer is automatically configured to use The USPOPS CST Service. Use Internet Explorer as you normally would.

How do I use other browsers with The USPOPS CST Service?
Netscape Navigator is automatically configured to use The USPOPS CST Service. Use Netscape as you normally would.
For other browsers such as Opera and Mozilla, The USPOPS CST Service works with any web browser that allows you to specify an HTTP proxy. You must set the HTTP proxy host to be "127.0.0.1" and the port number to be the local listening port of the CST Client (5400 by default). Consult your browser's documentation for information on how this can be done.

Does The USPOPS CST Service speed up email access?
Yes, CST automatically accelerates your email traffic (POP3 and SMTP) for all popular email clients such as Eudora, Outlook, Outlook Express and Netscape Mail. Other email clients should work transparently as well.

Does The USPOPS CST Service speed up my secure (HTTPS) transactions such as web banking?
The USPOPS CST Service does not accelerate secure transactions. Secure websites will continue to work by bypassing the acceleration component.

The USPOPS CST Service can be installed on any of the following operating systems:

The USPOPS CST Service requires at least Internet Explorer 4.0 and Netscape 4.0 or any later version of either browser.
Note that the CST Email Acceleration component requires Windows 98 and above, and that the CST Pop-up Blocker component requires Internet Explorer 5.0 and above.
Newer versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer are available free of charge through Microsoft.
For Windows 95 users: Currently, Microsoft does not permit Windows 95 users to install Internet Explorer 6 or greater, however, Internet Explorer 5.5 is available.

What system requirements are necessary to use The USPOPS CST Service?
The recommended system requirements for The USPOPS CST Service are a Pentium 200MHz with 64MB of RAM and at least 5MB of hard-disk space.
Regardless, The USPOPS CST Service will work within your current system configuration to provide you with the best content acceleration.
